A – Before Bunkering
Comment
¡   Is there any oil spill in water before connecting the bunker hose?

¡   Plug all deck scuppers.

¡   Check drip trays under hose coupling and ship’s supply connection – ensure fixing of plugs.

¡   Ensure the availability of oil absorbent materials.

¡   Check that air pipes for bunker tanks are opened & unlocked.

¡   Confirm the proper mooring of bunker barge through the Ch. Officer.

¡   Reconfirm the soundings of bunker receiving tanks.

¡   Check, agree & record tanks’ soundings for bunker barge.

¡   Inspect supply hose and coupling for damage.

¡   Check the proper connection between supply hose and vessel’s receiving connection.

¡   Check the status of inlet valves for vessel’s bunker receiving tanks, to be held by Ch. Engineer.

¡   Establish communication link between vessel & suppliers also for emergency case.

¡   Ensure that non-smoking signs are posted.

¡   Agree the starting pump rate.

¡   Agree the max-pumping rate after ensuring connections tightness.

¡   Are the assigned personnel in their applicable positions for monitoring?

¡   Maintain the frequent check of tanks’ soundings.

¡   Reduce pumping rate and / or open next tank before topping off.

¡   Ensure the proper relative positions between bunker barge and vessel.

C – After Bunkering
Comment
¡   On completion, ensure all hoses are fully drained.

¡   Close all filling valves, to be held by Ch. engineer.

¡   Take fuel sample with the required date & seal it.

¡   Check, agree & record barge tanks soundings.

¡   Record data for bunker operation in Oil Record Book & Engine Room Log Book, also Deck Log Book.
